February is the month of love and we celebrated in true Japanese style! From February 11th to Valentine's Day on February 14th, guests at Ki Niseko enjoyed a range of traditional Japanese events in celebration of love.
The events included a special Kimono Dress-Up Experience with Shoko Yamada, where guests got the unique opportunity to wear beautiful, decorative kimonos. Shoko also shared with guests an authentic Japanese Tea Ceremony with macha (finely ground green tea) and showcased her techniques for creating the perfect cup!
Japanese flower arranging known as ikebana, was another special event our guests were invited to enjoy and get "hands-on" with. The event featured a demonstration followed by a workshop where guests could arrange their very own flower creation.
Music performances over the period of the celebration included renowned shamisen, or Japanese guitar, champion, NIYA, performing upbeat tunes, some with dance backup music. Guests also enjoyed the smooth sounds of guitarist, Kenji Takiguchi, and the energy of traditional Japanese drumming by Koryu.
