We had the pleasure of sponsoring the annual Orphan Ski Day again this year and inviting local orphaned children to dine with us at our restaurant in Ki Niseko. The event was held on 29th March and 4th April 2018.
Running in its fourth year, the event helps to the support the local child care facility and contribute to a great cause. The event has been co-hosted by Tokyu Resort Services, Hokkaido Tourism Management (HTM), GoSnow, SkyExpress and An Dining. Tokyu donated ski equipment and ski lift passes for participants while SkyExpress provided the transportation.
With a full day of fun activities organised by GoSnow, the official international snow sports school of Grand Hirafu Resort, the event took place at the slopes, just a short walk away from Ki Niseko. This allowed local children to easily recharge from skiing by popping into our restaurant. The team at An Dining provided a nutritious yet delicious lunch meal for the children, helping them to refuel and go straight back out into the snow with the instructors from GoSnow.
The event was a great opportunity for the local children to create fantastic spring break memories to last for a lifetime. The day began with the team at SkyExpress collecting orphaned children from a local child care facility to the GoSnow base where they were given ski lift passes. After the opening ceremony, the children partook in the ski lessons and racing courses hosted by GoSnow Instructors and then headed off to lunch at An Dining. In the afternoon, a final race was held between the different teams and the children were presented with a certificate and cap to remember their day out.
Seeing the satisfied faces and big smiles of these children enjoying our lunch meals has been extremely rewarding for the team at An Dining and Ki Niseko.
We look forward to hosting the next Orphan Ski Day in 2019.
