Ki Niseko is now one of the many attractions Thai travellers can tick off their list when they use Trippino, a Thai language app dedicated to helping travelers discover the best spots in Hokkaido, Japan's northernmost island. The app, which was featured by Tech in Asia, lets users collect stickers for specific attractions, find things to do in the area they're in, and see what's popular with other Thai travelers.
App users can customize what kind of attractions and places they see by sorting listings into the four available categories—View, Eat, Play, Nightlife, Shopping, and Stay.
The travel app aims to be the go-to resource for the rapidly growing number of Thai tourists visiting Hokkaido, a number which almost tripled from 2012 to 2013. Thailand was also among four Southeast Asian countries surveyed recently whose respondents chose Hokkaido as the most appealing travel destination in Japan, ahead of Kanto, Kansai, Okinawa and Kyushu.
