Information
Immerse yourself in the power of light and negative space in an outdoor installation made for the whole family!
Book NowLocated in Hanazono, Mountain Lights is an immersive large-scale art installation of light held only in the summer months. Introduced to Niseko in 2022, known for his monumental, experiential, and story-telling art pieces, this is the first installation in Japan by British artist Bruce Munro.
For 2024, 2 new large-scale exhibits will be added, with some nights featuring fireworks and creative performance art incorporating fire and dancing to traditional Ainu music.
Created using brushed steel, optical fibre and LED lighting, Munro's installation features 180,000 points of lights, affectionately called 'Fireflies'. Altogether, these Fireflies create a glowing path 1,300 meters long and illuminating the base Hanazono resort. Leading your gaze to the top of the mountain and seamlessly into the starry sky above, this installation combines art with nature for an all-encompassing evening experience.
